A 4-H Entomology and Plant Camp will be held June 13-17, 2010 at Mississippi State University. This multigenerational camp is designed to help young people learn about insects from university professionals. Activities include insect collecting, identification, and habitat evaluations. The USDA-ARS Bee Biology & Systematics Laboratory and Utah State University Cooperative Extension have collaborated to create the workshop on the campus of Utah State University in Logan, UT. The morning includes presentations about crop pollination, wild bees, and landscaping for pollinators. The afternoon consists of hands-on workshops: raising bumble bees, managing cavity-nesting bees, landscaping for pollinators, identifying bees, bee diseases, and basic honey beekeeping. The 2010 International Workshop on Electrical Penetration Graph (EPG): Research Methods in Piercing-sucking Arthropod Feeding will be held July 26-30, 2010 on the campus of California State University-Fresno in Fresno, CA. This is an intensive (5 days, 10 hrs per day) workshop to teach researchers everything needed to use EPG and other methods to study feeding of piercing-sucking arthropods.
